Renewable energy

Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat which are renewable (naturally replenished).

According to the data from 2006 World economy is mainly dependent on fossil fuel energy, while use of renewable energy is negligible. Limitation of fossil fuels and preservation of environment force us to commit using renewable energy more. Besides that renewable energy has never been cheaper with low equipment prices for these systems and government subsidies. European Commission has set the group of goals for stopping the climate changes and increasing energy competitiveness. EU members have committed to transform themselves into highly energy-efficient, low carbon economies. Series of demanding climate and energy targets have been set to be met by 2020: a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of at least 20%, 20% of EU energy consumption to come from renewable resources, a 20% reduction in primary energy use (plan 202020).
